Halloween Weekend Update

Our weekend began on Thursday. My mom came over and kept Sadie while I took Sawyer to have his 3 month pictures made. I still can't believe he's already 3 months. I know before I know it I'll be taking him for his 6 month pictures. Anyways, I thought this picture was so cute. When I got back home, me and Mom were sitting at the table trying to eat lunch and mom was holding Sawyer in her lap. Well, Sadie wanted mom to hold her as well, so she climbed right on up in mom's lap. So sweet...

Thursday night, Dennis' dad and Barbara came over to bring the kids some Halloween goodies. The gifts were so thoughtful. Sadie was so excited about all of her stuff. We got a couple of good pics while they were here. Sadie also was saying "PawPaw" and "Gimmy", although "Gimmy" sounded more like "Mimmy".

Friday morning, I had to get up and take Sadie to the doctor, because we thought she might have an ear infection. She's been sick since Tuesday night with a horrible runny nose and a cough that sounds like she has TB. Thankfully, she doesn't have an ear infection. But, she's just been feeling crummy! I know you'll think this video is cruel, but she was having a meltdown like no other today before her nap. I had to finally get the camera out and take a few pictures and a video because it was starting to make me laugh, even though I know it wasn't funny that she wasn't feeling good. You get the picture...

Here is a picture of her poor face while she was having the meltdown. I know, it seems cruel to take her picture when she was feeling so horrible, but I just had to capture it. She was being sooooo dramatic!!!

Friday night, we got the kids dressed up in their costumes and went to Long Hollow very briefly. There wasn't much for Sadie to do there. It was more for older kids. Plus, it was very cool outside, and with her having a bad cold, we didn't want to chance it. So, we went to Dennis' aunt Pam and Uncle Corky's house for a little while and let Sadie and Cole play because Travis and Anita were over there too. Here are a few of the pictures we got of the kids in their costumes.

Saturday morning we waited for Dennis to get back from hunting. I was going to run some errands, but it didn't work out, so Dennis played outside w/ Sadie for a while and I took care of Sawyer who wasn't feeling too good. He had a stuffy nose and didn't sleep good the night before. Saturday night we went to the Streets at Indian Lake and walked around. I did a little shopping. Both kids, especially Sadie, had a major meltdown when we were leaving to come back home. I have never really seen her act that way. She was basically just throwing a major fit! It was strange, and I hope it doesn't start to happen more often. All of a sudden she doesn't like to hold hands when she is walking around. I won't let her just take off and walk by herself, especially when there are moving cars all over the place! But, she was refusing to hold my hand, so I carried her, which REALLY ticked her off. She did the same thing on Sunday when we were leaving the grocery store. But, we won't back down. She has to learn that she doesn't have a choice in this matter. Either hold one of our hands or you'll have to be carried. (or be in a stroller, etc. which she really doesn't like) Anyways, once we got in the car to head and pick up our Chili's to go, I put the Backyardigans in and gave her some fruit bites, and she perked up again.
We decided not to go to church on Sunday morning, because I didn't think the nursery would appreciate us dropping off 2 sick children. Even though I know they're both fine, Sadie still sounds like she's coughing up a lung, so we just stayed here. We hated missing church, but we listened to an INCREDIBLE message on TV by Maury Davis at Cornerstone. Wow! He was fired up and it was awesome!!! He was going off about how wrong abortions are, among other things. I am extremely passionate about that subject, and I can't fathom why anyone who is a Christian would vote for Obama when he is not pro-life. I just don't understand it. Why would you want someone in office who is going to say it's okay to kill babies???? Someone please explain that to me. I won't go any further into this topic, but I'm just baffled by it. I told Dennis today that I think people need to make a choice and decide if money in their pocket is more important to them or upholding the morals of this country and of our Christianity.
Anyways, we all went to the grocery store and came home and tried our best to get poor Sadie back on her schedule. This STUPID daylight savings thing messed her up really bad. Either that, or she's still just not feeling well. She was up REAL early this morning and was struggling all day to get back on her schedule. Dennis put together Sawyer's exersaucer while the kids were asleep. It's really neat! We tried to put him in it though, and he's still a little too small. But, Sadie thinks it's fun to play with!
Sunday night, we went to Deb's house for the annual family bonfire to celebrate Grandma's birthday. It's one of our favorite times that we all get together every year. It was a lot of fun. THANK YOU to Deb and LJ for all of their hard work that they put into making everything perfect. I know it's a lot of work!!!! And, I cannot imagine the cleanup process they had to go through after we all left. You are both saints! I didn't get hardly any pictures and we always take lots of pictures, but I guess since both of our hands are full now, it's harder to take pictures! ha ha
Here's one I got of Uncle Deda (aka Daren) holding Sawyer. He was all bundled up in his new camo outfit that PawPaw and Gimmy gave him for Halloween. I don't know what we would've done without it! He was so warm and cozy in it all night long.

On a final note, Sadie has all of a sudden started to talk unbelievably well! It's kind of freaking us out a little bit, because it's come out of nowhere! She's even started saying "Sawyer", but it sounds like "Saw-eeeeee". It is the most precious thing I've ever heard and I want to cry when I hear her say it. She's doing so well though. We are so proud of her efforts to start talking. It's just so weird that all of a sudden, she's saying all sorts of things. Her and McHaney were standing out in the field tonight at Deb's and they were carrying on a conversation with each other all by themselves. It was absolutely hilarious. I would give anything to know what they thought they were saying to each other. I love it! But, it also means she is getting older and that breaks my heart.

Weekend Update

Friday night was quite uneventful. Dennis had to take a really hard test for work on Friday, so I wanted to make sure he could come home and just chill all night. I knew the week had been a stressful one for him. My dad came by and brought us some pizza and visited with us for a little while. Dennis built a fire and we just hung out all night. It was so relaxing. I think the fire put Sawyer to sleep fairly quickly, so I will be having Dennis build one every night now! ha ha
Saturday, we ate some breakfast and waited on the kids to get up and get going. Have I mentioned lately how blessed I am to have a daughter who still sleeps until 10:00 in the morning??? I kept thinking that phase would pass, but she's been doing it consistently for about 10 months now! I'm going to try and train Sawyer to do the same, but I've heard that boys just don't sleep as long as girls do, so we'll see if I can prove everyone wrong!
We all went to Kroger to get food for my mother-in-law's birthday dinner that we were having at our house on Saturday night. Then, we walked up to Kohl's so that I could get some Halloween placemats. All of their Halloween stuff was 55% off! Sadie was worn out after all of that walking, so we came home and she ate and went down for her nap.
We got ready for Grammy's birthday dinner and they all came over around 4:30. We had a great time. I burnt both of my hands really bad on the green beans though. It was pretty painful. They were boiling on the stove, and I took them off to put them in a serving bowl and when I went to pick it up, all of the juice sloshed out onto both of my hands. Oh my goodness. Ouch! I thought I was going to look down at my hands and see flesh completely burnt off of both of them, but luckily it wasn't as bad as it seemed. They still hurt pretty bad, but I don't think they'll blister or anything. Anyways, we had a great time just visiting with one another. Sadie was definitely the center of attention at dinner. She was in rare form for some reason. Why do your kids always do strange things only when others are around? She was doing things that she has never done before. It was pretty funny though. Anyways, Happy Birthday Grammy! You deserve the happiest of happy! You help me out so much and you are ALWAYS there at the drop of a hat. I always tell everyone that you are there for me when I need you no matter what and even if you had something important going on or you were right in the middle of something and I needed you, you would come, and you would never in a million years let me know that I had interrupted you. That means so much to me. Just know that it doesn't go unnoticed. Thank you for everything!!!!!
Here are a few pictures we captured from tonight.

Here's a little video of us singing "Happy Birthday"!

Sunday morning was "one of those mornings". Most Sunday mornings are. I think Satan does everything he can to try and keep us from going to church. It almost worked this morning...
We were planning on getting to church just a few minutes early so that we could get Sawyer signed up to stay in the nursery, so right before we walked out the door Dennis said he thought Sawyer had gone to the bathroom, so I started to change his diaper, and he peed everywhere. All over his clothes and everything else in sight. So, I had to clean him up, change his diaper, change his whole outfit, and clean up the pee that was everywhere! Anyways, this is a precious picture we got of him in his cute little outfit before he peed all over it!

The nursery experience was a success though! Yippee! He did great! When I picked him up after church, he was crying, but his teacher said he had just started.
We came home and chilled all afternoon. This next picture makes me absolutely laugh out loud every time I look at it. I'll let you take a look before I explain.

How funny is that??? Who is in our bed? Is that me and Dennis??? NO! Is it two little mischievious children? YES! I had laid Sawyer on my pillow while I was changing clothes this afternoon and Dennis went and got Sadie up from her nap. He brought her into our room and set her up on the bed too and so she got on Dennis' pillow and just laid down. I think it just looks hilarious with these two tiny babies in this big ole bed!

Anyways, Sunday night, we went to Deb and LJ's. They were having a big Sunday School bonfire and Deb wanted us to bring the kids by so that she could "show them off". We let Sadie run around and play like she loves to do so much over there. Here are a few pics.

This last one is of Sawyer. It looks strange because I forgot to change some setting on the camera before I took it. He was passed around to almost every lady there. I'm sure he felt special having all of those ladies gush over him. It was very sweet. Then, he fell asleep in Grammy's arms.

It was a good weekend. The Fall weather is finally here and I am lovin' every minute! We've got a busy week ahead! Halloween!!!

"Kumpkin" carving 2008

We decided last night was the night to carve the pumpkin with Sadie (& Sawyer of course, although he seemed quite unimpressed). Sadie kept calling it a "kumpkin" which we thought was precious. I was just excited that she was saying it!
Anyways, it was a little hectic, because Dennis was busy carving, and I was trying to make sure Sadie didn't fall off of the kitchen table while at the same time trying to keep Sawyer happy in his swing. It was quite the event. But, a good memory at the same time. I wouldn't have it any other way!
Here are some pictures we captured. The first two are of Sadie's sweet anticipation. She wanted to be up on the table where all of the action was.

The next two are of her and Dennis during the process and then with the finished product.

Look at sweet little Sawyer just minding his own business with his little pumpkin.

These last few are of us when we put the pumpkin outside.

Random Wednesday Post

Nothing big happened today, but I ended up taking some random pics and videos and we took Sadie to pick out a pumpkin tonight. We were really wanting to take her to a pumpkin patch this year, but for the life of us, we cannot find a chance to go! We've just got a lot going on these next couple of weeks I suppose. This is just a little video I took of Sadie today playing "Peekaboo". She's all about Sawyer's toys these days. I can only imagine the arguments that will take place when he knows she is playing with his toys and vice versa. I guess I better enjoy it now that it's only one-sided and Sawyer doesn't really care.
This picture is of Sadie trying to give Sawyer his pacifier on the couch. I thought it was hilarious. Tonight we took Sadie to get a pumpkin at a local place in Hendersonville. I guess it's the closest thing to a "pumpkin patch" that we'll come to this year. We got a few pictures of her looking for a pumpkin. They had a mini haunted house type thing there and Sadie was totally unsure of it. Here's a picture of her when she looked up and saw it and heard the scary music. She's not too sure about this...
Here is a quick video where we were trying to see if she would go inside. Obviously, it didn't happen...which I'm glad she didn't, b/c I went in and it was quite scary. It would've freaked her out!

Weekend Update

Disclaimer: This may take a while to read. I posted a lot of pictures and a few videos. I got a little carried away!!!
Our weekend started out on Friday morning when I took Sadie to Grammy's for the day so that she could play all day at the farm. While she was there, I ran some errands with Sawyer and then came home and basically held him all afternoon. While I had hoped he would take a good nap (by himself) and I could get some things done, it was nice being able to hold him and rock him without having to feel guilty about not spending time with Sadie. Anyways, here are some pictures that Deb took of Sadie throughout the day. She had a ball, as you can see!!!!

Friday night, we didn't do anything at all. We just hung around the house and ate our usual, Chili's take-out. Saturday morning, Dennis went hunting but was back by about 11:00. We made a compromise a few weeks ago regarding Dennis' hunting hobby. I told him that I didn't want him to give up his passion for hunting, but I also didn't want him to be gone every weekend, so we compromised and decided that he can go on Saturday mornings and hunt as long as he's home around lunchtime. So far, it seems to be working out well for both of us. Saturday afternoon, we ventured to Franklin to Dennis' dad's new place because they had their best friends in town that we haven't seen in ages and that have never seen the kiddos. So, we went by there for a little while and came on back home. We stopped on the way home and got a "Hot and Ready" at Little Ceasars for dinner for $5.99. You can't beat that!!! It was pretty yummy too!
Sunday morning I was going to attempt to take the kids' picture in their Halloween PJ's that my mom had bought for them. But, when Sawyer was awake, Sadie was still asleep and once Sadie got up, Sawyer was asleep. So, I just took some individuals.
We also put Sadie's "squeaky shoes" on for the first time for church and she thought it was hilarious. So did everyone at church. We took a little video this morning, but she soon became intrigued by the fire in the fireplace, so it's not very exciting, but still cute.

Then, we went to church. It was very good. Bro. David has started a series entitled "Homework" and it seems as though it is going to be centered around the family, so I think it'll be a great series! I, of course spent the sermon in the nursing mother's room with Sawyer. I think I have decided to put him in the nursery next Sunday. But, it all depends on if it falls during the time that he's suppposed to eat. We'll see what happens. I may take him in the nursery to start off and then go get him if I need to feed him. When we got home, the kids both went to sleep so I headed to the grocery all by myself! It's been a long time since I've gotten to do that and I really enjoyed it. Who knew grocery shopping could be so much fun when you get to do it alone?? ha ha
Come to find out, before I even left the driveway, Sawyer woke up and cried the whole time I was gone. Sorry honey! When Sadie woke up from her nap we all went to Deb's because it was gorgeous outside and the farm is the perfect place to be when it's a pretty night. Sadie was all over that farm! It was so much fun!

LJ went and got some fried chicken and we all ate dinner and just hung out. It was a great night. Deb suggested we make it a Sunday night ritual. Sounds good to me! Although, she might've not been serious...????
When we got home, Dennis built another fire and we all hung out until bathtime. This is a pic of me and Sawyer chillin' by the fire.

It was a good, low-key weekend. I'm not too ready for this week though for some reason. I feel so tired already!!!!
