Weekend Update

This weekend seemed to fly by! I'm sure that's how the next month or so will be with the holidays and all. I want to enjoy them so badly, but I feel like my head is already spinning! I need to stop, take time to breathe, and especially take time to see my kids (particularly Sadie) enjoy this time of year!
Friday night, Sadie and Dennis went and picked us up some Chilis-to-go. We all just hung out here at home all night. When the kids went to bed, Dennis brought out the Christmas tree so that I could decorate it and when he plugged it up only one strand of the lights worked. Uh oh! Secretly, I was a bit excited because I have been wanting a new Christmas tree. Ours was pretty pathetic. I mean, it was great for when we first got married, but it's just so small! So, Dennis left to go to the farm and I decorated our tree that is in the foyer. Then, I tried to head to bed but the Saw-man (aka Sawyer) kept me up most of the night. I even tried to give him some formula before bed, hoping that would fill up his belly and help him to sleep, but it did nothing.
Anyways, Saturday morning I woke up feeling like a zombie. My stomach was hurting from lack of sleep, I was on the verge of tears, and I was beyond exhaustion. But, I prayed and prayed and prayed, and my day wasn't so bad after all. When Dennis got home from hunting, we all went to buy a new Christmas tree! Yeah!!! We went and got it at Home Depot and I love it! It was a great price too!
Saturday afternoon, we headed to Franklin to Dennis' dad's house. He and Barbara want to put the kiddos on their Christmas card this year, so they wanted to get us all together and take their picture. And, we had dinner too, of course. I mean, we can't get together without eating, right??? ha ha The kids did better than expected for the pictures. I attached a few below of the ones that I thought were best. The girls looked so precious in their matching dresses.

We had a good time though. We just hung out and let the girls run around like crazy people, which they did very well at. We came home and put the kids down and I put out a few more Christmas decorations.
Sadie was sooooooo cute when she saw our 2 Christmas trees. She was literally running back and forth between them all day long. She is mesmerized! And, we have a little reindeer in our foyer that is named "Rudy" and she loves him! Dennis said that she kept going up to his tail and going "tickle, tickle" and that she tried to kiss his nose. Too cute! I'll have to get a picture of that.
Sunday morning, we missed out on church, but for a great reason. Dennis' stepdad, LJ, got baptized! Although we missed the baptism because it was too early, we went to his mom's house for a celebration lunch. We are so, so proud of his decision to get baptized. What a wonderful event! His Sunday School teacher and longtime friend, Bill Henry had the honor of baptizing him.

Sunday afternoon, my sister came over and we went to JoAnn's to buy some things for my new Christmas tree. We went and picked up a pizza and came home and ate. She decorated my mantel and it looks awesome! She is so incredibly talented. Here's a picture of the finished product, although the picture doesn't do it justice.

Then, somehow she agreed to stay and help decorate my tree, but she pretty much ended up doing most of it and it looks awesome as well! Here she is, hard at work!

Oh, and we had a little elf helping us too!

We had a great time. Thanks sis for ALL of your help! You made my night by helping me decorate everything. You took a huge load off of me and I know how early you have to get up and go to work, so I truly appreciate you staying so late and helping out!!!!!

Sawyer is 4 Months old

Sawyer is finally 4 months old. Well, actually, he'll be 16 weeks tomorrow, and not technically 4 months until the 30th, but to me, 16 weeks equals 4 months. Anyways, I took him for his check-up yesterday. I was there for almost 2 hours and it was not fun! There were a million sick kids there so I think they got backed up. He weighed 14 pounds and is almost 25 inches long. He's in the 50th percentile of both, so he's right on track! We started him on cereal last night.
He seemed to go for it a little better than Sadie did, but we think it might've upset his tummy because he had his first screaming, and I mean screaming spell last night for quite a while. It may have just been because he got so many shots yesterday, but you never know. So, I tried a different kind of cereal this morning.

I had forgotten how gross it is to try and feed a baby cereal for the first time. It just gets everywhere!!!
He's still not sleeping good, but the doctor told me that at this age you just don't know if they're really waking up hungry that often or if they're just waking up. So, he told me that if I could hang in there, I could start letting him cry it out when he's about 6 months old. He told me it's okay to let him cry it out right now (for 15to 20 minutes at a time), but there's just no way I can do that just yet. It's too pitiful. He's still my precious little angel boy. So, with that being said... "Sawyer, Mommy is giving you 2 more months of no sleep! Then, darlin', it's time to start sleeping at night!!!! Okee dokee???"

Weekend Update

I have to first tell a funny story about myself...I did something that falls in the "not so smart" category. I packed the kids up to go to Kroger to do some grocery shopping. It was not one of those "easy going" mornings either. Sawyer was really needing to go to sleep for his morning nap, but I was trying to hold him off so that he would sleep at the grocery. For those of you that know Sadie though, she takes her time to do everything. I was trying to rush her through breakfast, but she was just enjoying her time eating her pumpkin muffin and drinking her milk. She was watching DragonTales and laughing at it...I was thinking "hurry up"!!!! Anyways, after Sawyer's face turned a few shades of purple from screaming so hard, I got them both in the car to head to the grocery. To make a long story short, the trip through the store was fine. No big deal. I was still trying to catch my breath from Sawyer's earlier breakdown though. I get my groceries, go through the check-out line, and then while digging through Sadie's diaper bag to find my billfold, I realize I left it in Sawyer's diaper bag AT HOME!!! Lovely. Just lovely. The check-out girl was not nice about it either. I kept apologizing and she was a jerk. Anyways, she told me that they would leave all of my stuff at customer service for a little while in case I wanted to come back and get it. So, I go back to my car and am trying not to cry. I call my mom and she just so happens to be heading to Kroger! Praise the Lord!!!!! I tell her what has happened and she offers to go get my groceries and bring them to my house for me! Wow! That's the kind of service I'm talkin' about! So, thank you mommy!! You saved me!!
Friday, my mom came and got Sadie and took her to Emma's school for Emma's Thanksgiving Lunch. I took Sawyer with me to order his pictures. Sadie and mom met us back at home for lunch. Friday night we didn't do anything. Dennis got in traffic and didn't get home until almost 7:00. Ouch.
Saturday, me and Sawyer went w/ my mom and sis to Christmas Village. It was great. I haven't gotten to do anything w/ my mom and Rachel together in forever. I don't remember the last time we all got together. Sawyer was a precious angel. He couldn't have been more perfect. He just stayed in his carrier in the stroller and looked around, slept, and looked around some more. I loved looking at all of the Christmas stuff. It was awesome! I didn't think I was going to be able to go this year, but it worked out and I'm so glad that I didn't miss out. It always starts off my Christmas season. Dennis and Sadie hung out together all day. He's such a good dad. He sure loves his little girl. He takes such good care of her and it means the world to me. I never have to worry at all when he has her by himself, because I know she loves being with him and vice versa. He's such a kid himself, and I think Sadie is so lucky to have a daddy like that. He is ALL about her! Ever since Sawyer has been born, I think they've gotten a lot closer. It's so precious.
Anyways, Saturday night, we got a date night!! This is only date #2 since Sawyer has arrived, so we cherish it! Dennis' dad and Barbara have been wanting to come and keep the kids for us, so we gladly accepted their offer. We went and had dinner at September's and then did a little shopping for some clothes for the kids. We had a great time. We don't get to get away by ourselves very often because we like all being together as a family most of the time, but it's nice to be alone every now and then. We definitely enjoyed the break! Thank you, PawPaw and Gimmy!!!! We hope the kids weren't too much of a handful!
Sunday we went to church and had another successful Sunday with Sawyer in the nursery. He wasn't even crying when we picked him up! We just hung out at home all day Sunday and then we went to Dennis' mom's house when Sadie got up from her nap. We ate some pizza and hung out and then we left Sadie there to spend the night, which for those of you that know me, I don't do very often. I think she's only spent the night away from home a handful of times since she's been born. But, I know I need to get better at it, because I'm sure she enjoys it! And, I have Sawyer's 4 month check up early in the morning, so Grammy insisted that we let Sadie stay the night. Dennis made sure her crib was all ready for her before we left. So sweet. He cares so much about her. Anyways, I know that she has so much fun over there and I know when she wakes up in the morning and sees all of the donkeys outside, she will be overjoyed!
Dennis, Sawyer and I came home and did bathtime and bedtime. Now we're about to watch the Amazing Race that we DVR'd.
Let the week begin!!!!

Weekend Update

What a beautiful Fall weekend this was! Oh to be back in the mountains and see how beautiful the Smokies are during this time of year. I would move to Knoxville in a heartbeat if my mom(& Dennis'family) would come too!
Anyways, we had a very low key weekend. The best part was probably that I got to go and get my hair done on Thursday. I went to a new girl at Tangles and I really liked her a lot! My mom came over and kept the kids for me and I was sooooooo able to relax and enjoy myself. Thank you, mommy!!!! She was here ALL day long (she came over early to give me a helping hand), so I know she was probably worn out when it was time to go. Trust me, I know it's a handful! But I also know that she enjoys every minute of it.
Friday, I took the kids and we met Shelly and Greyson over at Shelly's in-laws house to play. Nobody is there during the day, so we went over there and played in toyland! I've never seen so many toys in my life. I think Sadie and Greyson get on major toy overload when they are there together. There is so much to do and they don't know what to do next. It's pretty funny. Sawyer was a handful, but we managed to still make it fun.
Friday night, Dennis brought home the very delicious Chick-fil-A for dinner. After we put the kids to bed, we caught up on some shows that we had DVR'd and were behind in watching. Does anyone else watch "Criminal Minds"? Oh my goodness! I hate scary movies, but for some reason, we are addicted to this show, which is basically a scary movie fit into an hour long show. We always say that whoever writes these shows is a FREAK! But, it's sooooo good!
Anyways, Sawyer was awake for about 90% of Friday night into Saturday morning. Not fun! He is definitely not making any progress in the sleeping department. Please son!!! Have some mercy on your mommy! He just wakes up a million times each night. We have yet to have a night where he has gone a long stretch. I'm not expecting him to sleep through the night by any means at this point, but I would just love for him to maybe skip a feeding, or just not wake up every 2-3 hours ALL NIGHT LONG!!! But, this too shall pass....right??? I could still eat him up! Maybe not at 3:00 a.m., but most other times....
Saturday, me and Sadie went to the grocery. It was like old times. ha ha I forgot how easy it was to just take one child to the grocery store! And, I used to think that was hard???? These are some pictures of Sadie watching TV in the kitchen before we went grocery shopping. Do you think she's a little close???

I have to mention too that my sweet husband got up extra early, took my car to get the oil changed, filled it up with gas, washed it, AND picked up breakfast AND Starbucks for me! He ROCKS!! I love you baby!!!! And, he even put the clean sheets on the bed Saturday night without me even asking the favor.
When the kids got up from their afternoon naps, we went to Indian Lake Village so that I could return a couple of things and get a few more things (for the kids, of course), but our time got cut a little short when I received a voicemail from our security system company stating that our house alarm was going off!!! So, we ran by Red Robin to grab our to-go order (which was delicious, by the way) and headed home to see if there was a burglar at our house! Luckily, we were safe. It was just Sadie's balloon that had made it's way in front of the motion detector. Whew! That was a close one!
Sunday we got up and went to church. Here's a sweet picture of my little boy looking all grown up.

Another successful day in the nursery for little Sawyer. Yippee! It was a GREAT sermon! All about priorities. And, all about everyone getting too busy and not making time for the important things in our lives. Bro. David talked about how when we get too busy, we tend to neglect what matters most to us, such as God, our spouses, our kids, etc. Soooooooo true! I know I am guilty of that. He also talked about the need to say "no" more often to things that are causing the busyness in our lives. We came home from church and watched football all afternoon.
We went to Grammy's tonight to hang out for a bit. We ate some delicious spaghetti and meatballs too! Sadie even tried a couple of bites of spaghetti, which she has never eaten before. We had to mask it with a little cheese, but whatever works, right?

Grammy brought out this horse sleeping bag for Sadie to see, and Sadie fell in love with it. She thought it was the neatest thing!
