Christmas Update

I'm going to try to be brief with our Christmas festivities. I could go on and on because we had a great Christmas and we had lots and lots to do, but I just don't have the time! Christmas Eve, Dennis came home a little early and we went over to my mom's for dinner. We had so much fun. The kids were all so excited about Santa and it was so much fun to watch their little faces. My mom got us all tons of gifts and she went WAY overboard this year, but it was so much fun to watch Sadie not know what do with so many presents. After she opened all of her gifts, she was so overwhelmed that she went in a corner and started playing with some of mom's old toys. It was hilarious. Here are a few pics from our night!

We came home from mom's and put the kids to bed so that Santa could come. Dennis had already put almost everything together, so we just did some last minute things and we brought everything down and set it up. It was so much fun!
I almost burned the house down while cooking some monkey bread though. Some of the "juices" spilled out and started burning in the oven and it was smoking up the whole house! We had a few moments of panic and of fanning the smoke so that it wouldn't set off the smoke detector and wake up the kids. It was pretty funny.
Then, we watched our wedding video. It's our tradition to watch it on Christmas Eve, although last year we skipped it because I was nauseous and went to bed early. (pregnancy) It was awesome to watch it again. I love it!!! Everyone has changed so much in the last 7 and 1/2 years! Christmas morning we woke up and just hung out with Saw-man for a little while until Sadie woke up.

Sawyer went down for his nap at 10:00 and then we went and got Sadie up. Hopefully this is the last year we'll have to go and wake her up for Christmas morning! It kinda takes away from the excitement!! ha ha
She was sooooo excited though. Dennis was carrying her down the stairs and she immediately wanted "down". She kept saying "down, down, down". She ran over to all of her toys and just stood there in awe. It was awesome!

We cooked a big breakfast that consisted of monkey bread, real french toast, banana bread, bacon, etc. It was delicious!!! Sadie liked the syrup for the french toast. It was egg nog and syrup combined. I had seen it on Rachael Ray.

After breakfast, we all played and played. We started a tradition this year of just staying home on Christmas Day and spending time together as a family and it worked out perfectly. We had a ball!

Sadie didn't realize this year that 1/2 of the toys were for Sawyer, so she really felt like she had a big Christmas. She got this pink 4-wheeler that she was scared to get on until she saw Sawyer get on it and then she wanted to. It was funny. She got the hang of it though and she was off!

This video is hilarious.

We invited any and all grandparents to come by anytime throughout the day to see the kids and to see what all they got. PawPaw and Gimmy stopped by first.

Grammy and Captain popped in just after that. Sadie was so excited to see everyone and get to show off her new toys!

I had cooked a huge roast dinner because my sis was supposed to come over and eat, but she couldn't come because she wasn't feeling well, so I invited Grammy and Captain to stay and eat at the last minute. It worked out perfectly. We had a great time hanging out with them.
Friday, my mom stopped by for a little while and I waited for Dennis to come home from work. We went out to his dad's to do Christmas with them at their house. We had a yummy dinner and then Daren, Rachel, and McHaney all came over to open gifts. It was a lot of fun!

Our weekend didn't end there...
Saturday morning, we had to get up and have a big family picture made with my whole side of the family for my Memaw and Pepaw's 60th wedding anniversary. It went as well as can be expected. I do think we actually got one good shot of everyone though. Sadie was NOT feeling it at all. She was the difficult one. But, what do you expect from her age??? There's just not a whole lot you can do about it.
Saturday night, my mom and my aunt's hosted a huge party at my mom's house for my grandparent's 60th anniversary. It was really neat. I didn't get any pictures, but I know they had a great time. They are so precious and I couldn't be more proud of them. I can't wait until I can celebrate my own 60th anniversary. They give me something to look forward to. They have an old fashioned marriage which is exactly what I strive for. I think that's how it's supposed to be.
Anyways, Sunday was pretty uneventful. We went to church and then came home and did nothing all day. Sawyer had a few meltdowns. I went to the grocery. We all hung out and played all night long.
I did get all of my Christmas decorations taken down...thank goodness!!!
We had such a great Christmas this year. Our kids got everything they could want and more and our parents were so generous. We couldn't ask for a better family. It was such a special year with both of our kids and we know that next year will only get better!
Now, it's on to the week of New Year's! Will it ever slow down????
