Eating Bananas

Okay, this is my 3rd post in like a week, but I'm mainly posting this for myself so that I can look back and remember this. Dennis gave Sawyer some banana on Christmas Day. It was his first fruit! He seemed to like it. He just kind of sucked on it. He didn't really eat it or anything. Check him out!

I am determined to have this child eating all sorts of stuff by the time he is one. I am hoping and praying that he will not turn out like Sadie and eat NOTHING! Although, she did used to eat everything. Where did I go wrong????

Christmas Update

I'm going to try to be brief with our Christmas festivities. I could go on and on because we had a great Christmas and we had lots and lots to do, but I just don't have the time! Christmas Eve, Dennis came home a little early and we went over to my mom's for dinner. We had so much fun. The kids were all so excited about Santa and it was so much fun to watch their little faces. My mom got us all tons of gifts and she went WAY overboard this year, but it was so much fun to watch Sadie not know what do with so many presents. After she opened all of her gifts, she was so overwhelmed that she went in a corner and started playing with some of mom's old toys. It was hilarious. Here are a few pics from our night!

We came home from mom's and put the kids to bed so that Santa could come. Dennis had already put almost everything together, so we just did some last minute things and we brought everything down and set it up. It was so much fun!
I almost burned the house down while cooking some monkey bread though. Some of the "juices" spilled out and started burning in the oven and it was smoking up the whole house! We had a few moments of panic and of fanning the smoke so that it wouldn't set off the smoke detector and wake up the kids. It was pretty funny.
Then, we watched our wedding video. It's our tradition to watch it on Christmas Eve, although last year we skipped it because I was nauseous and went to bed early. (pregnancy) It was awesome to watch it again. I love it!!! Everyone has changed so much in the last 7 and 1/2 years! Christmas morning we woke up and just hung out with Saw-man for a little while until Sadie woke up.

Sawyer went down for his nap at 10:00 and then we went and got Sadie up. Hopefully this is the last year we'll have to go and wake her up for Christmas morning! It kinda takes away from the excitement!! ha ha
She was sooooo excited though. Dennis was carrying her down the stairs and she immediately wanted "down". She kept saying "down, down, down". She ran over to all of her toys and just stood there in awe. It was awesome!

We cooked a big breakfast that consisted of monkey bread, real french toast, banana bread, bacon, etc. It was delicious!!! Sadie liked the syrup for the french toast. It was egg nog and syrup combined. I had seen it on Rachael Ray.

After breakfast, we all played and played. We started a tradition this year of just staying home on Christmas Day and spending time together as a family and it worked out perfectly. We had a ball!

Sadie didn't realize this year that 1/2 of the toys were for Sawyer, so she really felt like she had a big Christmas. She got this pink 4-wheeler that she was scared to get on until she saw Sawyer get on it and then she wanted to. It was funny. She got the hang of it though and she was off!

This video is hilarious.

We invited any and all grandparents to come by anytime throughout the day to see the kids and to see what all they got. PawPaw and Gimmy stopped by first.

Grammy and Captain popped in just after that. Sadie was so excited to see everyone and get to show off her new toys!

I had cooked a huge roast dinner because my sis was supposed to come over and eat, but she couldn't come because she wasn't feeling well, so I invited Grammy and Captain to stay and eat at the last minute. It worked out perfectly. We had a great time hanging out with them.
Friday, my mom stopped by for a little while and I waited for Dennis to come home from work. We went out to his dad's to do Christmas with them at their house. We had a yummy dinner and then Daren, Rachel, and McHaney all came over to open gifts. It was a lot of fun!

Our weekend didn't end there...
Saturday morning, we had to get up and have a big family picture made with my whole side of the family for my Memaw and Pepaw's 60th wedding anniversary. It went as well as can be expected. I do think we actually got one good shot of everyone though. Sadie was NOT feeling it at all. She was the difficult one. But, what do you expect from her age??? There's just not a whole lot you can do about it.
Saturday night, my mom and my aunt's hosted a huge party at my mom's house for my grandparent's 60th anniversary. It was really neat. I didn't get any pictures, but I know they had a great time. They are so precious and I couldn't be more proud of them. I can't wait until I can celebrate my own 60th anniversary. They give me something to look forward to. They have an old fashioned marriage which is exactly what I strive for. I think that's how it's supposed to be.
Anyways, Sunday was pretty uneventful. We went to church and then came home and did nothing all day. Sawyer had a few meltdowns. I went to the grocery. We all hung out and played all night long.
I did get all of my Christmas decorations taken down...thank goodness!!!
We had such a great Christmas this year. Our kids got everything they could want and more and our parents were so generous. We couldn't ask for a better family. It was such a special year with both of our kids and we know that next year will only get better!
Now, it's on to the week of New Year's! Will it ever slow down????

Christmas Cookies for Santa

Sadie and I decorated some cookies this morning to put out for Santa tonight! She was so excited. I designated her as the "sprinkle fairy" and she got to put all of the sprinkles on the cookies. She did such a good job! Decorating the cookies quickly turned into eating the cookies, but isn't that what it's all about??? A special thanks to Beth Moore's blog for giving me the idea to do Pillsbury sugar cookies with Betty Crocker's buttercream icing on top. Yummy!! It was a lot of fun. A great memory with my little girl!
Check out the video below!

Here are a few pics! I know Santa will be so excited when he sees what a great job she did!

Weekend Update - Pre Christmas Weekend

Our Christmas officially began on Friday! First of all, Sawyer finally rolled over all by himself! And, of course, I missed it because I was turned around changing Sadie's diaper. But, we've seen him do it again since then. This was his happy face when I turned around just after he had rolled over.

My dad came in town, came over on Friday morning, and began to cook. He cooked ALL day long. Literally, my oven wasn't turned off until about 8:00 Friday night. He cooked cheese straws, sausage stuffed mushrooms, spinach dip, ham & rolls, pepperoni/ham cheese roll-ups, and chocolate molton cupcakes. Be still my heart!!!! It was all so delicious. Thank you, dad! We hung out all day and after naptime, my sis brought Chance and Emma over so that we could all do Christmas with my dad. We had a great time. We wished Dennis could've come home a little earlier from work, but we knew he was doing his best! We just missed having him here!! This was really the first time that Sadie knew what a present was. She was mesmorized by all of them. It was so cute. She made me smile all day long, because she just kept going by the tree and saying "presents". Here's a cute video of her disappointment when I told her that we had to wait for daddy to come home before we could open them.

We had so much fun hanging out, eating, opening presents, etc. It was a great start to our Christmas week ahead.

Here's one of Sadie and Emma watching Hannah Montana.

These 3 below are of Sadie opening her "Max & Ruby" dolls. She loves Max & Ruby. It's so cute to hear her say their names. She laughs out loud at that show every day.

My sis took the kids home and came back over to hang out for a little while. We had a lot of fun. Dennis and I stayed up talking until almost midnight. I love those times.
Saturday I got up and went to the grocery store to get all of our food that we're going to cook on Christmas Day. I came home and we fed Sadie lunch and put them both down for their naps. This is a lovely picture of Sadie eating some M&M's before naptime.

After naptime, we loaded up and went to Dennis' grandma's to do Christmas over there. Sadie looked so precious in her little Christmas outfit. She was very proud.

Keep in mind, this is where there are 8 kids and 7 of them are under 3 years old! It wasn't quite as crazy as I had thought it was going to be. It was loud, but everyone seemed to have fun. We tried to get a group picture of all of the kids, but as you can tell, a few of them weren't so happy. See below! Please pay special attention to my poor baby boy. He was scared to death. Everyone was singing "jingle bells" very loudly to get everyone to smile, but it scared Sawyer to death. Bless his little heart.

This one is of Grandma, Mary Harbin (Jen's little girl), Sawyer, and Grammy.

Here is one of Sadie, Cole, Mary Harbin, and McHaney as we were setting up for the group photo.

Here is one of Sadie attempting to hold Sawyer for the picture, but she started to push him away before we could get the picture taken. Too funny!

Sadie and Daddy opening presents.

Sadie was so silly...she had this Santa hat and scarf on and she did not want to take it off. It was cracking me up! So out of character for her!

Here's a great picture of Grammy and Capt'n with their 2 girlies!

We really had a good time. Sawyer was sweet. We had to wake him up from his nap so that we could leave to go over there and he didn't get to sleep the whole time we were there, but he was still an angel.

Sunday morning we all went to church. Sawyer didn't last long in the nursery at all. His little tummy has been upset, so I went and got him and just walked around with him.
Sunday afternoon, I wrapped presents. I felt like the pile was endless. But, it was still pretty fun.
Sunday late afternoon, we headed to Grammy and Captain's for Christmas! It was so much fun.

Grammy is as much of a kid as Sadie is, so she could not wait to give us all of our gifts. Sadie was soooooo excited about her table and chairs and all of her goodies that came with it.

And, Sawyer liked his toys too! He got the cutest pair of camo crocks that he can wear next Summer. I can't wait!!!

And, I was very surprised and ecstatic about the front porch swing that we got! I cannot wait to put it up and when it gets warmer be able to sit out and swing. I've been wanting one ever since we moved in to our new house. It's so pretty!!!

We had a great time. We had a delicious dinner and had a blast hanging out. Sadie didn't leave her little table. She's going to enjoy that so much. Thank you Grammy and Captain!!
What a weekend! And, it's just beginning. We've got another full week ahead of us. What will we do when it's all over????
