Since it was such a gorgeous day on Friday, I took the kids over to Indian Lake and we walked around for a while and I did a little shopping. The best part was that Dennis met us over there at Qdoba for lunch! It was so much fun! We haven't gotten to do that, well...EVER! He had to come visit his jobsite that is right beside that, so we got lucky and got to steal him away and have lunch w/ him. Sadie was so excited! But, she was very sad when Daddy had to go back to work.
Anyways, Friday night we just went and got some food for dinner and hung out at home. I went to Kroger after the kids went to bed and bought us some food to cook a big breakfast on Saturday morning.
We got up Saturday morning and Dennis and I cooked a big breakfast. It was so delicious! I can still taste the french toast and bacon. Yum! I wish we could do it every Saturday morning, but then I might be as big as a house! We stayed here all day on Saturday and just played around. It was nice.
Saturday afternoon, Grammy & Captain came and kept the kids while Dennis and I went on a much needed date with Travis and Anita to Stoney River. We lost a bet to them because they beat us in Fantasy Golf, so we owed them a dinner at Stoney River. We had the best time. We were there for almost 3 hours and we put a hurtin' on the food there! It was de-lish! I totally ruined my "no sweets" rule and had some of the best chocolate cake in the world! It was worth it. We came home to our sweet babies, gave them their baths and put them to bed. They seemed like they had a lot of fun without us!
Sunday we got up and went to church. I kept this babies this week in the nursery. It was definitely an experience. It felt like I had 6 or 7 "Sawyer's" for 2 hours! Whew! Most of them were just a little bit older than him, but it was non-stop for 2 straight hours. One would stop crying and 3 more would start. Craziness!!!!
I came home and tried to recover so that I could take care of my own kids.
Sunday night we went and tried a new pizza place in Hendersonville called "Knead Dough" on New Shackle Island. It was soooooooo good. We've been waiting for it to open and it was definitely worth the wait. The pizza was very good. The chef makes everything fresh every single day and you can definitely tell. The prices weren't too bad at all. The people were very friendly too. We will absolutely go back.
That's about all for our weekend. I'm already ready for Friday again...is that bad?
On a side note, the kids are doing great. Sadie seems to be the smartest kid alive. (of course every parent thinks that about their child though, right?) She can count to ten all by herself, she can spell her name, she can tell you just about every letter in the alphabet when you point to it, she repeats EVERYTHING we say, and she seems to be talking better all of the time. I could eat her up and for the most part, I do!
Sawyer is getting a lot better in the sleeping department too. It's still not wonderful, but we're definitely not getting any worse. He's so precious. I am so in love with that little boy. He is definitely stealing my heart more than I ever thought he could. I can already tell he's going to be a momma's boy. Sorry Dennis!
I love my life. I have the best husband in the world who takes the best care of me. He works so hard every day and I love him with all of my heart. Me, Sadie, and Sawyer are so incredibly lucky. I can't wait to tell my kids one day what a special, special daddy they have. I want them to always know how much I love him.

Weekend Update
I have to begin my blog by announcing that my little angel boy FINALLY slept for almost 9 hours on Thursday night! Yippee!!! This was the first time EVER that he gave us a long stretch during the night. I was so proud of him!! He went to sleep around 8:20 and didn't wake up until almost 5:00 the next morning. Then, went back to sleep until after 9:00!! He hasn't done it again since then, but hey, at least I know it's possible. That's all I needed to know. A glimpse of hope is all I needed right now!!!!
Friday, my mom came over and helped me make 60 ham & rolls for my friend Cayce's baby shower that was being held on Saturday. Thank you mommy! It went MUCH faster with her help! We did it in a jiffy. Maybe we should start catering together...hmmm...??? We do both love to cook and bake... and we're a great team??? Mom, thoughts????
Anyways, Friday night we didn't do much. Just our usual. Which, I love by the way. I love the fact that Dennis loves to come home on Fridays and hang out with us. He doesn't try to go out with friends or do the after-work "bar scene" that so many others thrive on. He enjoys coming home and hanging out with us and I'm so appreciative of that. Although during hunting season, sometimes it's a different story...but, he still does good and hangs out with us anyways when I know his heart is probably at the farm with the deer. But, I will say that I am THANKFUL hunting season is over for the year!!!
Saturday morning I had to get up early and head to Jen's house to help out for Cayce's baby shower for little baby Crew that will be here in just a few weeks! I can't believe it!!! Here's a picture of Cayce with the hostesses. (minus Tara, b/c she had to leave early)
It was a great shower. She got lots and lots of blankets, loveys, clothes, etc. for baby Crew. I know she's ready to meet this little man and so are we!!!! Sawyer needs a little buddy!!
On a side note, Dennis kept Sadie and Sawyer all by himself for the first time for an extended amount of time and he did so good! I was just a little nervous that Sawyer would have a breakdown when he didn't wake up and see my face, but I guess I was hoping he loved me more than he really does! ha ha Dennis did great! Both kids were in a great mood when mommy got home. He got them both up, played all morning, fed them breakfast and lunch, etc. Thank you honey! I know how hard it is because I do it every day, so I know it was a challenge, but he said it was great, so I'm extra proud of him.
My dad came over Saturday night to visit all of us and he brought pizza for dinner. We just hung out with him for a while and ate dinner. My sis came by too.
Sunday morning we got up and went to church. Sawyer did great in the nursery again. Yippee! 2 weeks in a row!
After the sermon, a bunch of people were chosen to do the "cardboard testimony" thing that I'm sure everyone has seen another church do on U-tube. It's so powerful. My sister was chosen as one of the participants, and it was absolutely unbelievable. Her cardboard spoke on one side about being addicted to drugs costing her custody of her children, and when she flipped it over, Chance and Emma stepped out from behind her and it said something about God promising to restore these things. It was awesome! I have cold chills and more tears in my eyes as I sit here and write this. So many people were so brave to get up in front of our whole church and share their struggles so vulnerably. It was incredibly impactful and I respect each one that had the guts to do it. What a witness! If you haven't seen the one on U-tube, please check it out.

God is amazing and it was so encouraging to see the work that HE has done in so many lives!!!!!

Weekend Update
Not much happening around the Phillips household, so I won't bore you with our weekend happenings. Same ole, same ole! Never a dull moment though! The above picture is a view into our lives at dinnertime. Finally!! We can all sit at the table together and have dinner once again!
The most exciting part of my weekend was that my mom came over and kept the kids on Friday while me and my sis went to see an early movie. I had planned on going by myself (because I was really in need of some "alone" time), but my sis called at the last minute (and of course I welcomed her company!) and we decided to go and see "Seven Pounds". I wanted to see a "feel good" movie, and that definitely wasn't it. It was an okay movie, but I wouldn't recommend anyone paying full price to go and see it. It left me feeling more confused than good. But, a HUGE thanks to my mom for recommending me to get out of the house and do something for myself!!!
The rest of the weekend was good. We didn't do much at all. We all just hung around the house and played together.
I kept the nursery for the first time at church on Sunday. I had the "older" 2 year olds, which is basically "almost 3-year olds". It definitely gave me a glimpse into what I have in store for me just around the corner with Sadie. They were all so precious. We had 11 of them in class! WOW! It was fun though. My main goal was to just have fun with all of them and make them all feel extremely comfortable. I had 2 little boys who were upset and wanted "mommy", so I just wrapped them up and held them and made sure they were okay. It melted my heart. I would want someone else to do the same for my kids.
Sawyer got to have his first "fruit" this weekend and loved it. Here is a small video of his enjoyment!
He's changing every single day it seems like. Every day gets better and better. I'm not ashamed to admit that having 2 under 2 years old is tough! It was much easier at first, but it got a little more challenging each day as Sawyer started to get older. Now, it seems to be getting better again. I think the 3-5 month stage was just hard for me. I couldn't have done it without God. He has been my strength, my patience, my source of EVERYTHING for the past few months. We talk all of the time!!! I'm sure He is sick of hearing me moan! But, He has been faithful as always and I know this tough time has only brought me closer to Him which is what life is ALL about.

My Big Boy
Well, it's time. Time for the big boy high chair! Yeah!!
This morning, I fed Sawyer his cereal in Sadie's high chair for the first time. He did great! I've been feeding him either in the Bebe Pod or the Bouncy seat, but he's getting to where he just wants to be sitting up all of the time, so I tried him out in Sadie's high chair and he did great.
So, off to Babies R Us we went to purchase one of his own. My mom met me there and between her and my dad, they bought Sawyer his high chair. Thank you mom and dad!!! Mom helped me pick it out and then dad met me at my house on his way through town and helped me get it out of the box and set it up.
Here's the finished product! It's the same one as Sadie's, but has a little different pattern on it.
I never thought I would have 2 high chairs taking up space in my kitchen at the same time, but what a sweet sight it is. I wouldn't have it any other way. Although with Sawyer's sleeping habits these days, you would think I might be lying...
He's just growing up so fast. I even moved him up into the size "3" diapers today. No more "Pampers Swaddlers". He's now moved into the "Pampers Baby Dry". What a moment! I'm going to grab my tissue...snif, snif.

First Weekend of 2009 Update
Welcome to the New Year! 2008 ended and 2009 began in a flash. I can't believe the holidays are all over. I feel like it all went by so fast. We had an extremely uneventful New Years this year. Dennis had to work all day on New Years Eve, so we didn't make any plans. We went and got Chili's take out and just hung out all night. I think we were asleep by about 11:00. I'm pretty sure that Sawyer was up all night long that night. It's all kind of a blur.
On New Years Day, we just hung out here all day long and played. It was quite relaxing. Well, as relaxing as you can be with 2 little ones. Here's a cute video of Sadie and Sawyer. She's really starting to interact more with him and it's so precious. Dennis called this a "moment of parental bliss". It just warms your heart as a parent to see your 2 kids finally interacting. Sadie is so sweet to him.
Also on New Years Day, I started Sawyer on some vegetables. I started with peas since they seem to be the most disgusting. I've always heard to start gross and then progress to the better tasting stuff. He actually didn't do too bad. It was pretty funny.
Saturday, we all went to Opry Mills. Dennis pushed the kids around Bass Pro while I went and did some shopping. Thank you honey! Saturday afternoon we had Mary Harbin's 2nd birthday party at My Gym in Brentwood. It was so much fun. Sadie had the time of her life! She was a wild woman the whole entire time. It was hilarious. We were so worn out by the time we got home that night. I felt like I'd been hit by a truck! Here are a few pics.
Small disclaimer...they made Sadie take off her cute tights because all of the kids had to be barefoot, so she looked a little like a homeless child with her short dress, no tights, and diaper about to fall off from her running around! Here's a short video of the excitement!
I gave Sawyer some carrots on Saturday night. He liked those much more than peas!
We didn't go to church on Sunday because Sadie was up all night long coughing her head off and I was up with a stomach ache. So, we just hung out at home and let Sadie rest. I went to the grocery store Sunday night with Sawyer while Dennis and Sadie went and got a pizza.
Sadie wanted to push Sawyer around in her grocery cart when she was playing last night. I wouldn't let her push him around, but we put him in it and Sadie thought that was hilarious.
